My soul feels at one with the birds when I hear this song.

Love this song, I have the Cd somewhere, I'll have to dig it out.

As posted earlier the use of Jason and the Argonauts was great, but how about the reference to "Longines Symphonette"? Are they still around? When I was a kid my mother used to buy records from them, if I recall correctly they were just knock off of real orchestras.

Great song

Edit: I just went to Google Longines and came across this:

"From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Longines Symphonette may refer to:

* A record label (the Longines Symphonette Society), owned by the Longines watch company, which specialized in releasing classic radio programs and multiple-record box sets <1>;
* A symphony orchestra sponsored by Longines, which produced many recordings for the record label;
* A trade name of electronic devices, including transistor radios <2> <3>, televisions <4>, and electronic calculators (produced by Texas Instruments) <5> <6>.

The name "Longines Symphonette" is now mostly known as a reference in the song "Birdhouse in Your Soul" by They Might Be Giants, as something that is "infinite" and "doesn't rest". It may refer to the record label's prolific output, the orchestra's numerous recordings, or to the longevity of devices of that brand."

Hahaha I remember this song from when I was young, it's brilliant

My boyfriend had never heard it before and has gone completely crazy about it!

These guys are so great! The album Flood is very nostalgic for me. It always reminds me of the summer between my Junior and Senior years of high school. I saw them back in 1992 with no backup band. What a FUN show, one that I always remember quite fondly.

God knows why, but TMBG is probably my favorite band of all time. And I like A LOT of bands!

Not just putting Jason and the Argonauts into a song, but into a song about a night light! Now, kids, that is creativity.

Saw a super documentary on TMBG on Sundance, called "Gigantic".

Great retrospective of their career, and where they are now.

I remember calling Dial a Song many time over the years...

Great song about a nightlight...

I could see Beck coming up with something like that. some of his lyrics are probably farther out there than this (not dissing, i love this).

C'mon - "countless screaming Argonauts". Now *where* else are you going to hear that?

I'm your only friend
I'm not your only friend
But I'm a little glowing friend
But really I'm not actually your friend
But I am

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

I have a secret to tell
From my electrical well
It's a simple message and I'm leaving out the whistles and bells
So the room must listen to me
Filibuster vigilantly
My name is blue canary one note* spelled l-i-t-e
My story's infinite
Like the Longines Symphonette it doesn't rest

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

I'm your only friend
I'm not your only friend
But I'm a little glowing friend
But really I'm not actually your friend
But I am

There's a picture opposite me
Of my primitive ancestry
Which stood on rocky shores and kept the beaches shipwreck free
Though I respect that a lot
I'd be fired if that were my job
After killing Jason off and countless screaming Argonauts
Bluebird of friendliness
Like guardian angels its always near

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

(and while you're at it
Keep the nightlight on inside the
Birdhouse in your soul)

Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch (and while you're at it)
Who watches over you (keep the nightlight on inside the)
Make a little birdhouse in your soul (birdhouse in your soul)

Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch (and while you're at it)
Who watches over you (keep the nightlight on inside the)
Make a little birdhouse in your soul (birdhouse in your soul)
