This song works really well as part of Canadian Olympic ads. So much better than the crap "official" theme song, "Pass The Torch"

I can't go that far, but -- maddeningly -- it does have some kind of entrancing effect on me. Help!

Way too long for such a limited idea. Would be good at a generous 4.5 minutes, overstayed its welcome at nearly 8 minutes.

Got stuck in my head (Canadian tv is using a clip of it for its Olympic teasers), and not in a good way. I finally overcame it by singing aharamanx's favourite that all the girls in the seafood factory sway and sing to while they're working. Better than Death Cab, by a wide margin.

Yeah...this kinda killed this song for me. I thought it was an extremely cheesy moment.

Thanks to the_Jake for the Six Feet Under ref. I sat here madly wondering why I knew this song. Once I read that... I immediately grabbed the mental pic of Claire and her friends.

This is being used in an ad here in Canada, for an internet company's Olympic coverage. They've edited it down to 30 seconds. It was quite a shock to hear the tune on my tv, when I'm used to hearing it on my computer...
Oddly enough, the more I hear it, the more I admire the edit: they've managed to compress the track very efficiently, and keep most of the essential flavour.

It's weird being so out of synch with the majority of posters/listeners when it comes to DCforC ---> people seem to love 'em, while I think they're redefining "banal". Go figure.
Thanks, phineas. I take great pride in my butt (if only my cyber butt!). Banal is rather kind for this music - rectal might be more apropos.

or mike patton's fantomas project. their songs are about 20 seconds long, usually. they toured with tool once, which is funny, because tool has a tendency toward very long songs as well. good contrast, i say.

A band here released a single that lasted six seconds. What you hear is a distorted chord and the leadvocalist saying: 'no, that's nothing'

It became a collector's item and therefore a hit, but they didn't allow it to get into the charts because a single needs a minimum length for that!

When the UK punk band Crass released their first record, there was a furore about the track Reality Asylum which was pulled from the album. The band replaced it with a little over two minutes of silence which they entitled The sound of free speech...

An amazing song, like all of their songs. They have beautiful instrumentals with captivating lyrics. I don't regret buying all of their cd's at all. I'm actually kind of shocked to see so much distaste for them here on RP though, oh well.

Stormtroopers of Death did the Ballad of Jimi Hendrix:

Guitar: to the intro to Purple Haze
strum, strum, strum, strum, "I'm dead."

end of song.

But Ramones' songs are like 2.5-3 minutes long, therefore we need two Ramones songs for every DCforC "opus". That's a trade-off I'd go for.

Clearly you're posting to the wrong song. The adjectives that are properly applied to this are "plodding, tedious, simplistic, boring". The DCforC songs I've heard on RP are underwhelming at best.
I suppose I should have used an appropriate emoticon before writing that this song rocks. Let's try it this time: :butt:

Just downgraded after a few listens. The crescendo/climax desired effect at about minute 6 of this song just doesn't quite make it there, unfortunately rendering the first 5 minutes of the song dull.
