I love Bjork, and recently got hold of a Sugarcubes album. Nice industrial sound to it. Reminded me of Amon Duul. The Icelandic Pixie ROCKS! |

I know some of her stuff can get down right bizarre, but I just dig her. Bless her crazy little heart, but she seems to make music on her own terms. Sometimes that means making an album, I'm thinking of her last two in particular, that is even too wierd for most people to enjoy on any level.

don't know what she's singing about, but i love this song. each time i've heard it i have said that. sounds sad, melancholy...pining, kind of. i'll have to look up the lyrics to see.

Moltar: Your wife's on the phone again. Space Ghost: Uh, tell her I exploded, and tell her it was very sad, and the last thing I said was "make sure my wife moves out of my condo." Moltar: She says it's an emergency. Space Ghost: Emergency... patch her through (Björk replaces Thom on the monitor) Björk: I have to go to the toilet. Space Ghost: You remember the difference between the toilet and the sofa, right? Björk: I think so. Space Ghost: And remember how angry I got. Björk: It smells like.. bad eggs. Space Ghost: Because that's what happens when you boil the cushions of the couch you'd been urinating on. Björk: Yeah'm? Space Ghost: Oh oh, and, as long as I've got you here, (does his power band move) tell that French DJ Tricky to move out. Björk: What's his name again? Space Ghost: I don't know, he's your damned friend. Björk: And I would love to introduce you to him. Space Ghost: I've met him. He's living on our couch, with the urine. And tell him to stop letting in strangers to listen to his new beats. Björk: It makes all the children happy. Space Ghost: (in low voice) Honey, those aren't children, they're packets of cream cheese. Björk: Sometimes I can't separate between the two, do you know that? Space Ghost: Yeah. I.. wish I'd known that when we were just dating. |

I don't always like her music, but I appreciate the art and effort put into creating it.

I'm giving this one an 8 just because she managed to irritate so many closed minds (below) and continues to stimulate debate over her artistic output. Isn't that just what a true artist aspires to?

I find Bjork an irritating person - at least the public persona. And normally I don't like a lot of her music, but this is good, and I really like the cover of the album.

I like Bjoerk--a lot. So having established my bona fides, I have to argue with the obvious falacy of your statement: There was a time when we referred to it as album cover art , for the very good reason that many musicians/studios had their people put a lot of creative effort into it, and there is some brilliant cover art out there. Clearly this is such an attempt--I mean, really, this isn't just a snapshot of the artist and doesn't bear any resemblance to other pictures I've seen of her. And it really is hideous. |

Yep! Tinnitis drives me crazy too...although it's not really a drive, more like a short walk.
Love Bjork! |

Other than for a couple of tunes on Debut, I don't get Bjork ....
It's not a "dive for the mute button" thing like Radiohead --- in this case I genuinely feel like I'm missing something.
I'll get it yet ...

You got that right. I've been listening to this ol' girl for a long time now. She's had one song that was passable-good ("Human Behavior"). The rest sound like a couple of skunks mating in a dumpster.
But I don't "get" Yoko (John loved her, that's good enough for me) or some of the other avant-gard artists played on here either. So it goes.

Rent a DVD of one of her concerts, like Live At The Royal Opera, (watch it twice), if you still don't like, it's not for you. |
