Unless you played it at the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition.
:)
Great to hear Monk on RP.
Would LOVE to hear Mingus, too.

If you feel that way about this piece, you'd never get through some of Miles Davis' stuff or John Coltrane Live in Japan, some of the earliest acid jazz at it's best!

Like I said in a previous comment, anything by Monk garners an instant 10 from me. I never thought I'd hear THIS tune on RP. Would love to hear more of his stuff in regular rotation. Inspired set:

BB King - Let The Good Times Roll
Stray Cats - Rock This Town
Thelonious Monk - Criss-Cross

My first exposure to this type of music was in the waiting room at the dentist's office when I was about 5 years old. It wasn't very calming to me then & it's not now. It creeps me out.

Well, of course YOU would, because you look funny. Thelonious Monk, however, is a genius.

Physically painful. First, learn to use the instrument. Then play something called "notes". Finally, assemble said "notes" into a pleasing sequence called a "melody".

Awesome. This is exactly why I love Radio Paradise.
Where else can you hear such a cool mix of different styles.

I have to say that, while I am not a jazz fan, this is probably the coolest thing I have ever heard on this or any other station.

If you could play like this you'd be able to make millions. I suspect you can't play anything even close to this well. Until you can show me otherwise....

And strangely enough, even with only 32 ratings so far, the "1" you just gave this song couldn't bring it any lower than 8.1

This gets cooler every time Bill plays it.

It should be played more often.

I know, it's all music, but this sounds like it's coming from a different musical world inbetween the other stuff.
Most popmusic is so much of a temporary nature (nothing necessarily wrong with that btw), while this is so timeless. Keep it coming!
