I might have even listened to this if "The Edge" would ever master even a slightly different guitar riff than he has played over and over for the last 15 years. Same style, same chord progressions, same effects...yawn.

Oh, and many of us would also be grateful if Bobo would lose those goofy shades.

Did somebody already say "pretentiousness". I think so.

U2 would be a more attractive band without all the grandiosity.

one of the best songs of U's latest album, some seems very week and full of deja-vu's but this one show the strenght that made U2 what they are today

I think Fidel is actually thinking of handing over the reins to Bono.

I think you misunderstand his point. "Or else" isn't intended as a threat...it's warning...if we fail to keep the Peace, bad things will happen for everyone. I think that's all he is saying here...It's an obvious point but one worth repeating. Anyway, Bono isn't an idiot. He's actually a pretty good song writer and a great performer.
I think I have to agree Goo. Matter of fact, Bono was just in the news promoting taking care of the poor to church leaders around the world. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Until U2 goes all out disco ala late 70's stones... I'm with MonkeysDad...

It's the consistency that the Stones (who I really like BTW) can't even come close to. U2 has consistently been good for 25 years now. Hard to find a 25 year period for the Stones like that.

I bet the Stones would give the skin off their back for a run like U2 has had.

Good point. I can't think of another band that, first, has retained all of its original members for so long, and, second, been so successful for so long. Amazing.

Sorry to those who like this song. I just had to hit "mute" again. One of U2's worst, IMHO.

I think Bono forgot some grouping. Which is it?
(Love and Peace) or Else

or:

Love and (Peace or Else)

I like the 2nd because then you could end up with "Love and Else".

I'm a huge U2 fan but this is one U2's weakest efforts. Of all the great tracks they have... how did this one sneak into the library?

well hate and war would be the natural answers, and what good does that do. Or perhaps you are part of the indifferent club. All he is saying is the alternatives to love and peace are well worse and therefore a punishment.

I could be mistaken, give me something better than love and peace, besides chips and salsa, and beer and pizza.

Uhhhhh, my statement was sarcasm on how blatantly obvious, and uncreative, this title is. Honestly, this is something a 6 year-old would scribble in pink crayon on her coloring book. But of course, this meets my standards for Bono, who has a history of ludicrous song lyrics/titles.

"And it comes, like a hunted child"

"You left my heart, as empty as a vacant lot"

- a couple of winners there.

Perhaps I shall now refer you to here:

The lyrics are great. But the song is about love while the music sounds like war. It hurts my ears.

Gotta disagree.

I love that guitar ripping in. A completely different sound for U2 when they do that.
