Upped to an 8! Definitely a classic in my book. Sound seems a bit muddy, though. Bad rip?

Uncle...I thought Oasis had finally gone for good. I predict Mariah Carey covers this within the next three years.

When they were big, and at one point they were massive, their music really suited the times riding on the back of the 'Madchester' house music and Brit Pop scenes.
It does get to me though when some people slag them off saying they have no talent. To come from such a shit background as they did and to become world stars does take a certain degree of talent. And I suspect the people who slag them off cannot play one single note on any musical instrument.

Someone else already patted you on the back, Deano, but I'm gonna do it again. Very well said. And a very solid song, regardless of the personalities of those that are performing it. |

Never liked the band, but I always loved this song. Sad how one song can tie you to some part of your life that's so emotional. I can't listen to this song to this day without crying, and it's probably over 10 years old..... |

This is the first time I have heard this song in years.
Oh, sure, I've heard the Ryan Adams cover many times, here on RP.
But I haven't listened to French radio since I discovered RP. My car antenna is broken so I only listen to CDs when I drive.
(long, rambling story deleted)
So tonight I turned this tune up, way up.

urk. and here I thought Wonderwall was Ryan Adams' song. Guess i'm just a middle aged old fart, don't know nuthin'. why is Oasis such a target of vitriol?

Still, I like Oasis as a kind of perverted earcandy. Can't really dance to it, can't relate to it, but it's catchy, nonetheless.
I'm a dork. |

Yeah, I am surprised at the amount of vitriol being heaped on them here. Mibbe it's a cultural thing and something about Oasis winds up Americans (before anybody gets defensive, I'm not being pejorative about either Oasis or Americans, just intrigued).

I'm afraid I can't listen to this lot without first thinking what a complete prat Liam Gallagher is.
Listening to a total asshole singing somehow takes the shine off the experience...

Personality-wise they're tossers, but this album is great. And nice segue from Walking 2 Hawaii... seamless in fact.

Easily the single most overrated, overplayed and egotistical band of the 90s. I hated these retards 8 years ago, I still hate them. Maybe if Liam actually sang with some EMOTION in his voice they wouldn't suck so much...but probably not.

I don't like Oasis and I can't stand Liam (or is it Noel) Gallagher's voice, but this is definitely a 90s classic.

It's ok, his brother will take care of that for ya. ;-)
They're one of the headliners in Austin next month. I want to see them, just so I can check that box on the life resume, but when I'd rather hear Ryan Adams' version of this, that's bad. Decent anyway. |

I agree. I know it is very fashionable to beat up on Oasis these days (and to be frank, they probably deserve it for many more reasons than I have time or space to record). But IMHO, their first record and especially this one, were pretty good. This record in particular is pretty consistently good throughout. Unfortunately, things began to deteriorate from there at a rapid pace. Still, it doesn't take away (for me anyway) from this album/CD. |
