Let's be fair...There is nothing that can be done in popular music that the Beatles didn't do, hint at or influence another band to do.

I don't mind this song, but it reminds me of the spam that used to crop up on rec.music.beatles.

OASIS MORE POPULAR THAN THE BEATLES IN THE UK!!!!!

I've heard it, it's really cool. I've always been a fan of this song. I got sick of beating them up...it's too easy. Liking their music takes some investment, but for this album it's worth it.

GREAT tune from a band that probably could have done a lot more than they did with themselves.

Or perhaps, "Viola!" It's a hit!

Despite the Oaf factor... such a relief to hear the original version. Enjoying it after all the overplay, years ago.

Working class passion, expressed authentically. Feelings, not some schmaltz fest. Its about inarticulate kids trying to connect with each other. Not clever, not pretentious.

What a juxtaposition with Paul Simon's Only Living Boy in New York. Simon's song is so much better crafted, and so beautiful. But Wonderwall has an immediacy and a simple passion which is transparent and accessible, whereas Simon's song is layered and benefits from understanding the background and context.

There is no such insight needed in Wonderwall! It is just real. Sorry to apply a class analysis, but the Gallagher brothers couldnt pass an exam if they tried, no twee College background for them, just simple feelings about universal experiences expressed by real people.

I love the ending, so poignant. Reveals the extent to which they were influenced by a popular beat combo from the other end of the East Lancashire Road...

It's a shame to see this being rated so "low". Shame on you old tarts!

Last couple of comments are right on. From what I've been able to glean over the years, I don't know enough about Oasis to hate them, so I can only go by what I know -- which is that I really love this song.

Despite their personalities, Oasis came up with some good songs. Like this one.

When this band was talked about on VH-1's I Love the 90's, one guy said "Oasis was one of those bands I just wanted to hate but couldn't." My sentiments expressed right there

That's probably because he cannot hold a note. It is very grating.

The inner-dialogue rages on... Do they suck? Are they geniuses? Are they NOT geniuses but still highly listenable? Do they SUCK? My mind wants to turn them off, but my toe is tapping! Damn you, toe!

I knew this song before listening it on RP. But now I have the name !

It's a famous song for today's 20-25 years-old French students, but I'm surprised I'm the first to post a comment about it: "French exceptionalism" again ?

well known in germany as well, so it's not french exceptionalism.

i love this song, reminds me of highschool years, getting drunken to tell her all and everything ... and then just ended up in the corner, quiet and lost. ;)

great to have this song here.

Well, at least the French college students like it -- to me, a 40-something American it's tired old dreck. On the other hand, it's a lot better than the Ryan Adams version that came out last year.

Blech.

It was overplayed at the time, but I'm not going to rate it down for that.
Plus I'm a sucker for cellos.
An outstanding track.
