Nu2Me music... Why I love RP and avoid the others. Altho, it's expensive buying all these CDs... still, where there is one gold nugget there are probably more... Thanks...

Just wanted to say thanks to calypsus_1 for the contributions, I love checking the discussions to see if there's a picture of a live show or maybe a youtube link to something relevant.

©2008-2010 ~ lorepooAbout the concert: Both of them (Manu Chao and Radiohead) were amazing. Manu Chao is just all around awesome, and Radiohead has the coolest light show I have ever seen in my life. I bet people had seizures. . ———————————————————————————————————- Manu Chao - "Desaparecido" & "Rumba De Barcelona", Live Baionarena (2008): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-wWoofPkEc
"At the "guitar" to the fantastic Madjid Fahem. Extract from the live concert in Bayonne in 2008 (broadcast on arte 9, 2009, 14: d:). The whole concert there's a double CD with DVD "Baionarena" "

The comfortable, curious vocal tone is precisely what attracts me to this song. Much like a rhythm instrument with a message. Voices with technical ability and depth? Any high school, church or subway should yield plenty of those. |

Thx for this, but it was just my misspelling. I don't even know an artist named 'manu negra'. ;) |

Calexico performs a snippet of this song in one of the tracks from the China Theater concert. I just can't recall which one.

If I recall right, Clandestino is a derogatory term for immigrant. Could be an album theme? |

he talks of illegal immigrants, I guess everywhere...
here you have the translation, a collaborative effort from some of us...
Me llaman el desaparecido
Que cuando llega ya se ha ido
Volando vengo, volando voy
Deprisa, deprisa a rumbo perdido
They call me the (guy who is) disappeared
that when he comes, has already gone
I come flying, flying I go
Quickly, quickly, on a lost course
Cuando me buscan nunca estoy
Cuando me encuentran yo no soy
El que está enfrente porque ya
me fui corriendo más allá
When they're looking for me, I'm never there
When they find me, its not me
who is in front of them, because Ive already
gone off, running farther away
Me dicen el desaparecido
Fantasma que nunca está
Me dicen el desagradecido
Pero esa no es la verdad
They call me the disappeared
a ghost who is never there
They call me the (guy who is) ungrateful
But that is not true
Yo llevo en el cuerpo un dolor
Que no me deja respirar
Llevo en el cuerpo una condena
Que siempre me echa a caminar
I carry in my body a pain
which does not let me breathe
I carry in my body a sentence (condemnation)
which always forces me to walk
Me llaman el desaparecido
Que cuando llega ya se ha ido
Volando vengo, volando voy
Deprisa, deprisa a rumbo perdido
They call me the disappeared
that when he comes, has already gone
I come flying, flying I go
Quickly, quickly, on a lost course
Yo llevo en el cuerpo un motor
Que nunca deja de rolar
Yo llevo en el alma un camino
Destinado a nunca llegar
I carry in my body an engine
which never stops running
I carry in my soul a road
destined to never arrive
Me llaman el desaparecido
Cuando llega ya se ha ido
Volando vengo, volando voy
Deprisa, deprisa a rumbo perdido
Perdido en el siglo... siglo XX... rumbo al XXI
They call me the disappeared
that when he comes, has already gone
I come flying, flying I go
Quickly, quickly, on a lost course
Lost in the Century... the XX Century... heading to the XXI one

Yes, that is right. I have actually commented previously that the song was referred to the 'dissapeared' (especially Argentina and other South American countries) but somebody pointed out to me that Manu was actually talking the case of an illegal immigrant to Spain. I think that his remark makes perfect sense. Now, you are right and your comment about voluntarily of forcefully dissapearing is quite insightful. I guess you can say that there more than simply dictatorial governments acting now and producing new dissapeared people... I don't know, just musing... |
