saw great show on PBS about the singer of this band and his father, who was a famous physicist— very good!

It's not the least bit amusing, nor do I need/want to listen to music to get depressed. Quite the contrary........ Meanwhile, Rebecca disses my LRC uploads without even letting any of you vote on them. Go figure....... |

Eschewing "the" in their band name, breaking all band naming conventions....the impetuousness!

Makes me think of "Mad World." Both perfectly capture a certain kind of alienation and sadness with a shade of contentment (at least if "contentment" didn't imply happiness).

I'm pretty much with the Nottingham jury here. Although there is a real honest feel to it that makes me want to check out some of the Eels other stuff. (off to eMusic to see what they have) |

There was a great BBC4 documentary about Mark Oliver Everett learning about his father & his science after his father had died. I think it was called Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives. Brings some perspective to this song. |

The version on "Eels with strings" is equally awesome. Some of you may not like the way E sings, but there is no way you can deny his display of talent as a songwriter.

Oh spare me the drama and grow up. Claiming that any band on RP is overplayed is nonsense. Bill includes new stuff all the time.
I can't even begin to count the artists I've discovered as a result of listening to RP the past 5 years. Not all of them are my cup of tea, but I know damn well that's my issue, not the station's.
