I think Mazzy Star could be the Shakespeare of pop lyrics. I love the title of this album: So Tonight That I Might See. Beautifully worded. Song gets an 8. A little too simplistic and not enough strong emotion to manage a higher score.
Beautiful riff, bit it goes slow and never changes. Started at 9.5 and wound up an...8!

Me, too. Saw the Airplane do "Today" at Berkeley's Greek Theater the fall of '68. This was when they performed the album cuts live as they were recorded; that is, before they recreated them (e.g., Bless Its Pointed Little Head--still a great album). So, is Hope Sandoval the second coming of Grace Slick?

Wow, really? My roommates and I named a cat we got from the pound Mazzy about 12 years ago, and even that got some resistance for being corny. But man, your first born child? I'd have gone with Hope, if anything.

That's not SO outrageous. I have a friend who named his first-born after Olivia Newton-John.

This is wonderful! I thought the other song was the only good one on it. Good reason to pick it up.

Paaainful comment to read (that one-good-song mentality) but glad to hear you came around. Credit to RP for helping open listeners' minds a little.

p.s. the whole album is that good

I can see that, but 'Today' would get a 10 - this gets an 8. Still, very good.
