I don't like the singing. Sounds too much like painful.

Well I'll give RP credit. Lisening for about a month now and this is the first current top 40 hit i've heard on here!

I first heard this played during Live-8, and it was quite electric then.

I'm afraid it has rather grown on me with each listen. Rockon with a 7 from me

This is a good album, nothing absolutely stellar, but promising...just don't overplay it!
You should follow this with some Franz Ferdinand--or would that be a bit much?

A nice, catchy tune... but, SO over-played locally.

Why must every song contain pulitzer-worthy sonnets set in perfect iambic pentameter?

I can interpret those lines and imagine a particular meaning behind them. They may be simple, but sometimes there's just an easy joy in that. And I think that being easy is refreshing sometimes.

replying to myself is funny. But I saw this video for the first time this morning. I don't like the video--it seems tritely weird and then there is a part before the soul..soldier bit where they are standing in lines and stepping in time to the music. Lame.

Still really like the song though :)

These guys were on one of the late shows the other night and I really enjoyed it.
I laughed at the comment about it sounding like Adam Ant and Queen, but I don't hear it.
This sounds good to me. I don't know why. But you gotta help me out!

I agree with ROTO. "Somebody Told Me" is an awful song (in my opinion), but the rest of the CD is actually really, really catchy. Especially this song. I'm glad RP picked this one up. "Jenny was a Friend of Mine" would be welcome too.

It sounds like Adam Ant mixed with Queen.

The guitar reminds me of early 80s Scottish band Big Country. Not sure whether that's a good or bad thing.

Had potential, this album. But this band really has no imagination. Just really bad boring writing....too bad.

Of all the artists, Seal covered this tune when he played Tucson a few months ago. Did a mighty fine job, too. Maybe even better than the Killers themselves. Pretty good, anyway.

This band has mastered mediocrity. From the musicianship, vocals, to even the band name and album cover. Which means they'll win every award for which they're eligible and release another 300 albums. They'll be like a successful version of frank zappa.

This song is playing RIGHT NOW on at least 300 "alternative" stations across America. :puke:

Idiotic lyrics that are repeated again and again:

"I got soul but I'm not a soldier"
"I got soul but I'm not a soldier"
"I got soul but I'm not a soldier"
"I got soul but I'm not a soldier"
"I got soul but I'm not a soldier"
"I got soul but I'm not a soldier"
"I got soul but I'm not a soldier"
"I got soul but I'm not a soldier"
"I got soul but I'm not a soldier"

Only in this cultural wasteland we call the 21st century would you find this song being popular.

I guess it is on heavy rotation because it is anti-war chic! This song sucks!!!!

agreed. I avoided The Killers for a while because I didn't really like "Somebody Told Me", which was the first song I heard. The album is really strong from beginning to end though.

I really love The Killers! This is a good song - so unabashed and joyous in its sloppiness. :D/ Reminds me of early Kinks with a touch of Electric Light Orchestra thrown in. Got my feet tapping, and that's no small feat (feet?)

Thanks for playing it, RP!

This was one of my favorite songs before they started overplaying it here on a local station... ok I lied a little, it's still one of my favorites. The entire CD is great too.

I got soul, but I'm not a soldier...

This album has 4 or 5 solid pop tracks. I could do without the totally repetive portion about soul and soldiers.
