That's a cool sister who's ipod I would probably borrow on a regular basis.

Ok—this isn't the best song, but Nada Surf is a terrific band. Just don't judge them solely on this song.

I felt the same way until I was enlightened by a comment by Nada Surf's Matt Caws himself:

‘If you move off to the side, I get swept back out’, so swept back out, sweeping back out that’s almost into an ocean or lake, riptide. My mother’s from North Carolina, and North Carolina has a lot of riptides, it’s the undertow, which pulls you right out and then you die. So let’s say there’s someone you really, really care about in your life. And let’s say they move off to the side. And let’s say you get swept back out into the middle of the lake or the ocean or whatever. It’s really cold, right? But you do survive. And how do you survive? So my thinking was, it’s not that deep – no matter how deep life seems to be, deep in the dangerous sense, like ‘shit!’ – your legs grow."

Quite a nice and comforting picture, I think!

The quote is from an interview led by Christian Auginer as part of his Thesis (!) on "The Hyperspace-Perspective in the Lyrics of Nada Surf" btw.

Now, that was very interesting to read, thanks! - especially that someone wrote a dissertation on Nada Surf lyrics.

Yep, I'll second that, both in sound and gloomy lyrics. Ver' nahce - 7 from the Nottingham jury.

Well, i like this song for its musical qualities... But i have to agree, the lyrics don't make the slightest bit of sense...... At least not to me, but i'm just a dutch guy... {#Lol}

If you were here
Baby we'd increase the dose
There was no fear in my room
When we got close

Call me anytime

I never paid much attention to these guys before...but this is a pretty good song. The segue from All Cats Are Grey into this was nice.

I bought this album due to two songs: What is your Secret and Always Love. Ended up enjoying the whole disc quite a bit, although I cannot understand why the named the band Nada Surf.

I really do like when this song changes near its end.
