One of those albums where the whole is stronger than the sum of its parts. This probably isn't the song that I'd pick to represent the album, but it's ok. Hard to believe it's 20 years old.

Wow, that really does mess up a great song.

Lovely interpretation of a lovely, lovely, Morrison song.

If you like this classic album, check out Mike Scott's solo CD, Bring'em All In. An album almost entirely about God, without being the least bit preachy. Great piece of work.

Damning with faint praise? This music is music to my ears! Isn't it supposed to be?

Hate hate hate the vocals. The rest is pretty fine.

This sequence of songs is uncanny.

Okay, who downloaded the playlist off my iPod?

I agree. I never understood the fascination with these guys...maybe I'm just "not" getting it. I appreciate them as musicians but...

Very true.

Would have to count this album as one I would need stranded on a desert island, even tho I am not otherwise a big Waterboys fan. Expressive vocals, songwriting, & musicianship that just comes together so well in a varied yet cohesive moment.

Both versions of this song are brilliant! (Van's better though.)

Great interpretation of a great song.

I think they did a great job with this. It's a song you'd think would be a little intimidating to try. Kudos just for having the fortitude to take it on...oh and a little Blackbird thrown in there too... Really enjoying this

I just started listening to this album and I have got to say that I really like this album and this song. I do like Van's version better but it is great to hear different versions of songs that you love so much that are good.

No, it doesn't conform to three minute attention spans, and for that I am so-o-o-o glad!

The song starts out good enough, they just don't know when to stop.

I love the contrast of the pretty lyrics ("champagne eyes") & the rough-hewn orchestration. Very nice - 8

They're really doing a huge disservice to what is otherwise an incredibly beautiful song.
