Either the original World Party version or Eliza Gilkyson cover with the vocals and acoustic boosted over a pair of Sennheiser head phones is a cool place I can go to when the world around me has all gone ... well, you know ...

Well, I always liked the Eliza Gilkyson cover a lot. This is only maybe the second time I've heard this, the original. It's different. Tempo a bit faster, more of a fast march through it. I dunno.... ... well I gave the cover a 9 and this an 8, so I guess I like hers better, but I'm not slamming this one, in fact it's growing on me....

Great song! This one I gave an 8. Eliza's version got bumped to a 9 back in August.

I woulda thought it was from a Kinks album I hadn't heard if I hadn't seen the title.

So, this version, although the original I think, now sounds odd after hearing Eliza Gilkyson's version. Her's brings out an emotional depth to the lyrics, leaving this version sounding almost like a jingle.

Well. Hello mrcookieface

I've loved this song for so long. In fact, it's on a road trip tape a friend made for me.
Yes, a real cassette tape.

Another catchy "Beatles-esque" treat from World Party.

I too hear Ray Davies being channeled here (hear?)
I really like this. Didn't pay them much heed originally.... clearly I was in error.

The KBCO Studio C version (limited release) is a great one. The original version sounds a little drab by comparision.

Karl Wallenger still has some form of this band going. They released a CD titled Dumbing Up in the past year.

I bought the album 'Bang' on the back of this song when I was about 15. This track mesmerised me (one of my all time favourites) but the album was a real disappointment at the time. Might give it another go - haven't listened to it in a decade or so.

Check out their first album called 'Private Revolution'. Came out c 87. Some great songs here too and survives the years very well as you might expect from a Waterboys chap. Very Eco friendly too. Wikipedia here for more inf http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Party
