Fair enough. So, if you're done quietly contemplating the meaning of the lyrics, what is this song about?

Thanks! This guy nails it. I especially agree with this criticism. It reminds me of those T-shirts that used to say "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit." I think that captures this guy really well.

It's music that gives the impression of being sophisticated and complex, that never comes close to the sophistication of Randy Newman, Van Dyke Parks, Jimmy Webb, or what Illinois most closely resembles, Brian Wilson in his SMiLE guise.

So basically Drowsy Joe, an apt name. I think I'd prefer my neighbors if they were night zombies. They Are Yuppies!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back From The Dealer With A New BMW!! Ahhhh!

His pretension -- his convoluted song titles, his cloying song about Saul Bellow, his adolescent fascination with John Wayne Gacy, Jr. -- all comes across like a precocious high school student in his senior year, where he's smug enough to want to prove that he's smarter than the rest of the school.

As far as he and I could find. There is no such thing. If there were, you'd probably want a pretty big knife up there so that you could cut off their heads.

Stevens has stated that the name is of Armenian origin and means "comes with a sword," and that it is "a charming militaristic Muslim name." (click here)

Oh, no. Trapped between co-workers' inane chatter and Sufferyawn's inane song. It's a dilemma. OK, this isn't my least favorite Sufferyawn song, so I'll suffer through. How long can it last? I was married to Satan's favorite daughter for 17 years, so this is a walk in the park.

In Dutch his name is kind of funny. Jan is a very common name here and 'suf' a common word (but can't be translated easily into English).

Like it a little better every time I hear it - up to an 8 for me. I've started to sing along now, much to my neighbors chagrin, I'm sure - but if they're zombies, then it doesn't really matter, does it?

Mrrrh?

If you're a real geek, the low-tech MMORPG "Urban Dead" can provide weeks and weeks of fun. www.urbandead.com

As for the song... it rocks! Good beat, many layers working well together, and a fun title.

It's funny you should say that. Sort of. I have no idea why but this morning I was thinking I'd like to hear "Pastime Paradise" by Stevie Wonder (NOT Gangsta's Paradise) and this song came on which really reminded me of it. I wondered if anyone else heard that, and I wasn't (too) disappointed, though I'm sorry you didn't appreciate it. I like this song -- kinda creepy.
