I came into my musical state of being during the early 60s.
I love this. I feel 5 or 6 years old again.
They've caught the mood, the instrumentation, the production, everything.

So 60's.
I like it.
Bold Street? Clicking clacking of girl's high ideals. Whiff of cheap perfume. Neon signs reflected in puddles. Lads behaving badly. Clubs heaving with sardine squashed people. Beer spilled as it is passed over head. Cigarette smoke so thick that the coloured lights seems to have to carve their way through. Greased back hair. Laughter at the impending menace. Escape to the comforting embrace of the velvet night and its forgiving shadows.

This song reminds me of Kicks by Paul Revere and the Raiders, its all in that retro guitar sound.

I love this song, but I only know it from the Broken Flowers soundtrack. How is the rest of the Greenhornes' stuff? I'm assuming Holly Golightly doesn't sing for them regularly.

Yes, drummer Patrick Keeler joined the Raconteurs, as did their bass guitarist Jack Lawrence. They are both in the Raconteurs. |

I am more into the 70's for my "classic" rock and roll. (Shame and Misery, on the same album, actually has more a 70's - almost DOORS - feel to it.) But Holly Golightly is a very cool vocalist - thanks for the tip. I searched Amazon.com and DID find a lot of stuff by her. (It took me a while to find an album that had music previews though.)
I listened to Holly's examples and can't say I am into her solo work. She should work with Zero 7 on an electronica album. She would really rock as a singer in that genre! (Going by her guest appearance on this album.) |

Pretty sure the drummer from the Greenhornes is in the Racontours (sp?)... which explains the White Stripes connection...
...Which also explains the Holly Golightly conenction...

Good old rock and roll... still lives.
