Yeah, I can see why complaining about the U.S would make more sense than moving back to the Great White North whence he came and where he is a citizen rather than a green card holder here. Hey Neil, you wanna complain, then apply for citizenship. Don't wanna be a citizen here, then leave. Easy enough. |

I don't want our soldiers over there either but I voice my opinion freely under the flag of my country, the USA, voting who I want or who I don't want unlike Neil who lives in the USA, living comfortably but loyal to the Canadian flag who can't vote because he is not a citizen. I will say this a million times over and over, I am sick and tired of non citizens of the USA preaching to me about crap they can't even fix in their own country. Clean up your house before you clean up mine. Everyone has an opinion but the hypocrasy is annoying. I for one can not support Neil for this reason whether I agree with him or not. Besides a whole album dedicated to one concept...I hope he got it all off his chest.

Agreed. More dogs barking at the parade. The rest of the NY catalog is worthy of collecting and listening but this has a band wagon, rush-to-market feel to it. And then Bill had the good sense tonight to follow this up with a 4-song dog set. Excellent. |

How many troops does Canada have in Iraq?
That would be none.

Seeing how this thread turned political, allow me to throw in my 2 cts.
Anyone in America who's still buying the Bush's speech can only be doing so because either (1) they own stock in the weapon industry - why do you think he's got the backing of ivy league schools? Look at where their money comes from - or (2) they are so busy/lazy/uninterested to go seek alternative info.
Since you're part of the RP listener base, I'll assume you're a progressionist at heart. Now, I have little hope that the U.S. citizen can possibly have any control over what the current administration is doing. However, complacence with it can only bring trouble to you (in much the same way the Palestinians/Lebaneses who voted for Hamas/Hezbollah are paying the price for exercing their democratic rights). If you think Iraq was the end of it, you're deeply mistaken; That was just a piece in the big puzzle. Inform yourself about what's happening, spread the word and make some noise to show you're not condoning the atrocities perpetrated in your name. Here are some recommended readings:

Easy now, I said those things, and the 'black hole' comment was sarcasm. Something lost in translation?

Kevin Spacey's sketch on "Saturday Night Live" was funny, and Young posted it on his site, along with all the major media reviews of this record, pro and con. (They're running about 3-to-1 pro, so far.)
For a guy known for his "sensitivity," that shows guts, I think.
I like the way this song refers back to the "we've got to get back to the garden" classic by his pal Joni Mitchell. Young is a thinker, whether or not you like the way he thinks.
Personally, I like the crunch of his guitar...
