I can't believe this is Chicago. Sounds totally different than what I have ever heard from them. Sounds more like rock/funk than pop (like the only other songs I know from them).

I saw CTA on the Garden State Parkway amphitheater in NJ in '67 or so when they were still CTA and unknown. They opened for Iron Butterfly, and they stole the show.

I love Chicago, well at least the first few albums. I saw them live three times in the early 70's and thought they were great.

Too bad they became so lame.

Please a few more early Chicago song on Radio Paradise.

The first 6 songs or so of that initial CTA album are astonishing! Who knows what the hell happened after that. At least we'll always have CTA!

Last time Bill played this track, it prompted me to investigate Chicago's back catalog - I'm now a big fan of their first three albums. These guys used to be serious musicians and innovators.

Holy crap! A song from the Terry Kath days when Chicago played rock and roll. Pete Cetera had the same hideous effect on Chicago that Michael McDonald had on the Doobie Brothers.

What the hell happened to them after they had published this album?

Did some aliens take them on a flight around some strange planets and stole them their feeling for good rock?

Everythin I've known from Chicago was just crap...

Most everything from Chicago (the band) is crap. Their first album was rockin', a bit of an acquired taste. But it had some great cuts on it and it found a way to blend 60s psychedelic guitar with a smoking horn section.

After exploring that, they went neo-classical with their second album, with a little psychedelia still mixed in. Chicago III was a muddled mess, and the live album was just a tragedy.

Another problem they had was not tightening up the material. The first three LPs were double ones, the live one (#4) was 4 discs IIRC, and they may have had more double sets. Their album names didn't give the band much street creds either. I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, ....

How can a band that starts out so well devolve into middle of the pack top-40? Only "Chicago" knows for sure...

Kind of weird to be standing around during a 5 minute drum solo watching the guitarists fingers for signs of movement.

I really don't like drum jams or solos unless there is really something spectacular in them. This doesn't fit that criterion.
