My vote for best live album ever — even better than the Allmans' Live at the Fillmore. A great introduction to a great band, backed by the best horn section around.

Godlike, to be sure. Can you imagine being at this gig with Little Feat and TOP horns up there?  The mind boggles. This is probably the hottest track on an amazing album.

True mark of a great band.  Better live than in the studio (though the feats could be great in the studio also).

Named after the fact, but the Spanish Moon in Baton Rouge is a pretty cool music venue. An LSU college/downtown hipster bar, but you can get hookers/crack/killed in the neighborhood immediately adjacent to keep authenticity with the lyric.

I was lucky enough to hear them live at about this time, '77 or '78, in East Lansing. I don't think anyone sat during the whole show. RIP Lowell George.

BTW, the release date for this LP should be 1978 (currently listed as 1989).   -Ed

This song is quite profound...  I remember how we used to party while it played, and we would sing along with it for fun...  we did not know how true this song really is...  of course, I am talking about last week...

still love it, in a much deeper sense now...

One of my favorite songs of all time!  Thanks, Bill!

I've been looking for somewhere that meets this description:  "Hookers and hustlers filled up the room, this is the place they call the Spanish Moon ... if that don't kill me soon, women will down at the Spanish Moon."  If I ever end up owning a bar ...

So great to hear live - brings me back to Houston Music Hall late 1970's - fabric cactus' rising from stage -  weed rolled from a grocery bag — the height of empire (sigh).

The choreography is great, Gene.
Do you mind if I take your bottom lineup and make a
