This would make an interesting two minute song. At 8+ minutes, it's way too long for my taste.

This sound runs in loop like a deep-scratched vinyl. Is it what's called electronica? I think even Moby is better in creativity and arrangements. Would fit as a 30-second jingle for a health care company ad (you know the blood suckers of America).

Downloaded the whole CD over the weekend, quite good. So far this is the best cut. I really never cared for this band, they were ok, but this is better than ok. Kind of dark, which I like!

I really would care one bit if somebody threw this band into a trash dumpster and shut the lid.

Yes... "album"....
i agree. the long intro totally feeds into the creepy factor - building up to the stalking or whatever.
i heard it on the radio in my car a couple weeks ago and my ears perked up. i guess i hadn't paid much attention to DCfC until now. bought the cd last weekend, and i love the whole thing. where have i been? |

Now, is it not evident that this piece exemplifies mediocrity? I find it unlistenable. Some songs the world can do without.

The band's name comes from a song by the same title written by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, recorded on their '67 lp, Gorilla.
Monty Python's musical buddy Neil Innes' (Sir Robin's main minstrel's) band.
Strange because Toad the Wet Sprocket got their name from a Monty Python sketch.
Anyway- I really prefer the extended cut to the cropped down version that's being played on the radio. This version builds very nicely and provides a nice musical counterpoint to the sociopathic lyrics.

I don't quite get the appeal of Death Cab, but this song is good. Its kind of like a modern day "Every Breath You Take" except it's not sung by a complete megalomaniac.

I really want to like this band, but I would never buy anything from a band with a stupid name like Death Cab for Cutie.
Yeah, DCFC makes 'Toad the Wet Sprocket' sound positively sublime.
I think DCFC is taken from an old pulp slasher comic bo... er, 'graphic novel'.
Before I knew the name of the band, I heard their song 'Styrofoam Plates', and I was hooked. They could call themselves 'Talentless Idiots' and I wouldn't care.
