Decent but definitely not the best example of The Cinematic Orchestra. Something from albums, Motion or Everyday would be better. Good stuff thou Bill.

Because neither one has anything of substance, and both are effective substitutes for tranquilizers? |

westslope wrote:tobstar and other TCO fans, How about ripping some of the better pieces and uploading to RP for consideration? My impression is that Bill is extremely open to new material if a person can think beyond their own immediate personal music tastes. Spoken like someone who's only ever uploaded two tracks. I've had 120 different uploads over the years, so I think I speak from experience when I say that this song is an example of exactly what RP wants, so uploading something different or "better", whatever that means, won't get you very far. This track was accepted and added into heavy rotation with 48 hours of me uploading it, which almost never happens. And the RP audience has embraced it, which is rarer still. It's familiar without being derivative, which explains all the comparisons to Coldplay, Radiohead, and Philip Glass, three artists that are well-liked by the RP community, and I'd add Erik Satie to the list since that's what it made me think of the first time I heard it. It's the only track on the album that stood out as radio-friendly to me, but don't let that stop the fans from uploading other tracks they think might make the cut. I notice that several other songs from the band have been rejected already, but I can't remember if that was the case when I uploaded this one. - John Dynamic Range Radio |

Closest thing I've heard to Jeff Buckley since that fatal Mississippi river swim. Nice.

OK, had to go to YouTube to check this band out. It's one guy...at a piano...singing...until the orchestration kicks in. I was blown away. What a talent.

CBC2 has a new music show at night that's excellent. Brave exposure of many indie bands. |

Sounds a bit like Antony Hegarty (sp?) or maybe Jeff Buckley. Both in a good way. Or Chris Martin. This band gets airplay on CBC2 and I like them.

Judging from the overall score, you're not alone. Any time someone is singing in falsetto, the usual suspects come out of the woodwork to belch out macho swill so that we all know they are "real" men. Overcompensating for their "shortcomings" if you ask me. |
