Love this song but I can't help but think of the movie "The Road"every time I hear it and that movie was SO depressing.

And please do not compare the beautiful voice of Patrick Watson to Chris Martin!

I just finished listening to the book on CD.  Though defnitely disturbing and moving, it was a good book because of the writing.  I don't think all the emotions and humor (yes, humor) would come through in a movie.  And I don't think I could have watched it with this song in it.

Can't work when this song is on.  Especially after seeing the short film.

Agreed, this is exactly what my 4 year old sounds like when she bangs on my piano. I told her to knock it off and concentrate on building her Internet forum troll skills instead. It's more fulfilling.

Maybe it has something to do with the repetitive banging on the piano that's reminiscent of a 4 year old accompanied with the monotonous drone that sounds like Chris Martin.

This song is perfect. Why is it so hard for modern songs to get in the 8-9 range on RP whereas, it seems, mediocre Police tunes from the 70s/80s automatically get high ratings?

It's very simple - most people are more familiar with older songs - people tend to crave what they are already acquainted with.  If you've ever played music, you get tired of hearing people say "Play something I know" pretty quickly.  Anyhow, good song.
