Prince is pretty cool. I find about 60% of his music uninteresting, but the rest is interesting and inventive. He gets kudos from odd places- was listening to a Victor Wooten interview, talking about influential bass players and bass tracks. He called out Prince's bass work on one of his songs (forget which one) as something notable. Prince is one of those people who matches his personal weirdness with real talent.

I far prefer Tom Jones' cover of this, not least because he's got a better voice and is plain sexy. Prince sounds like a castrato and that scream of his goes through my brain like a knife through butter, and IMO he's got the sex appeal of a stick insect although I understand that the grrlz like him (no accounting for taste). 4 for Prince, 8 for Tom Jones.
