This song starts out pretty well, but it really starts dragging after the first few minutes.

What is this mute list of which you speak? I am highly intrigued. |

The more I hear of this band the less I like them. This song in particular is almost unbearable.

This is much more accessible and 'cohesive' than most of Yes' work (and I love Yes, despite Anderson's voice). If I had to reach for possible influences or similar, I'd be tempted to mention the Doves. |

A "rug of sound" huh. That's an interesting perspective. I will try to keep that in mind and be less quick to judge since you said that. There is so much to learn in this world.

Thanks Bill. Only RP has the freedom to play 16 minute tracks. Other day it was a Pink Floyd one. :-) And as for the people who don't get this track - you have my sympathy. As already stated by another "Solid 10 Godlike"

If we are going play to 16 mins of this nonsense, surely it is only fair to play 16 mins of good bands too. Balance, please?

Wow, I jumped in here to see if it was Steve Reich (which they've unabashedly stolen from to do this)! Funny you would mention the rug of sound, because that's exactly what's used to make the cover of Reich's masterpiece "Music for 18 Musicians." The cover is a tapestry, a great metaphor. Anyone who likes the underlying polyrhythm of this song ought to head straight to iTunes or somewhere similar and pick up Music for 18 Musicians (preferably the original ECM release - I find his more recent rerecording a tad faster and it bugs me). |

I think the Moody blues started the stitching of songs way back in the 60's and 70's.

I finally did the tiniest bit of research to find this track is a hair over 16 minutes long. No wonder it sounds like several SP songs stitched together. Anesthesize on Porcupine Tree's latest album, Fear of a Blank Planet has the same effect. It is really 3 or 4 songs threaded together. And its a masterpiece! This is a great album by Snow Patrol. I have poo pooed them on their last effort. This is much much stronger. Serious pop. |

I LOVE this whole album of songs. There's not a single song on it that I don't like. I'm hooked right now on listening to this on my mp3 player at work at least 3 times a day I seriously want this CD to win a Grammy |
