I've not heard Concrete Blond doing this song. I'll have to check it out. Love Sting's version. Cue the "I hate Sting, he's so prententious" comments by other RP listeners. That's as may be, but man can he sing! ick wrote:This is okay... I think Concrete Blonde did it better though (on "Still in Hollywood" a compilation of live recordings and previously unreleased material). I know, I know... "but these guys are legends!"... doesn't mean that someone else couldn't come up with a better interpretation though.

Good, but it can't light a candle to Jimi's original.

So which version is the original: this one or Hendrix's? Whichever, Jimi's is significantly better IMO, much more life and 'oomph'.

Thats weird that he is playing 2 things by the same artists off the same album together. I hope he doesn't start doing that with David Byrne/TH stuff. At least both these songs are excellent :)

Don't believe I know this number..... Two greats. P.S. And yeah, peacescooter, decent for a live recording. |

Tasty stuff and I'm no fan of live recordings as a rule. Love the retro cover art as well.

This song started out as an 8 just based on who was playing. Then it went up from there ... |

Reminds me of the day my boss showed me a picture of her Chilean husband. I ignorantly blurted, "Gee, he doesn't look Chilean!" (Just like I don't look like a Michigander, Arizonian or Californicator.) |

The original, while still the best, was far too short. This version extends and enhances it. Clapton does a great job without overdoing it (as he often does).

I dunno - disappointing to me. The song should be delicate and it sounds to me like they're kind of thrashing it to death. Obviously these guys have CHOPS, I'm just not sure they're adding anything here except volume....
