I shouldn't love this song, but I do.  It's mesmerizing.

Nothing special on this song, just to say how glad I am to be able to listen to such great music, here, in France.
You even play sometimes French tunes !
Thanks for all !

Preface: a cat named Trouble.

Sorry, rabbi_phil, but I just had to bring this back to the top. This is one of the most precious posts I've ever read here! I sure hope you've moved on from Ms. Trouble, my friend!

Yes indeed, very Zen-ish.  Especially small-bore (.22 cal) outdoor 25 meters.  Then there is always the outdoor .177 air pistol events they have in Germany.  I've fired just about all kinds of weapons in my Army days.  Much prefer the General Electric GAU 30mm Chain Gun with depleted uranium discarding sabot tracer as attached to the chin of a nice rotating set of wings with a 3-D HUD which mixes thermal, RADAR and visual TV.

This has nothing to do with the song, really, but the array of gunnery-related jokes that have followed are some of the laugh-out-loud funniest posts I've read here in a while. No disrespect, but WTF?!

Just made me think of a patient I had on the psych unit last night who said "My name is 'Angry' so don't call me Fred!" (or Jim or Joe or whatever his real name is.  Thank you HIPAA.)

Scary as hell being on a combined forces gunnery range with M1s, Bradleys, and foot soldiers, shooting and moving in concert laying down suppressive fire.  Stuff blowing up left and right.  Tracer rounds flying and ricocheting every which way.  When the apaches show and start laying waste to anything down range with that 30mm cannon it's like hell itself is coming out of the ground.  I never want to go to war and I tip my hat to any soldier past, present, and future.

People who don't shoot always seem confused at the fact that I find shooting relaxing.  They always picture a madman at the range shooting angrily and getting more worked up with each shot.  I shoot mostly long-range, and in fact, shooting is the most relaxing activity I've ever found.  Focusing on relaxing every single muscle in your body, shooting between breaths, even heartbeats...talk about being in the zone.  Leaving the range I feel like what returning from a weekend at a spa retreat must feel like, for the people who enjoy that sort of thing.

That said, this is a really cool song!

Used to love  target shooting with my dad... He was a collector of mostly old military rifles and "old west" revolvers: loved the M-1 carbine and M-14 rifle.  Mauser 98 7.92mm carbine kicked like a mule but would make large plastic containers filled with water explode with considerable force from a long distance.  The old Colt peacemakers were also a fave.

Other than lots of paper targets and large water jugs, we never harmed any living creature with these weapons.  We enjoyed the noise, fire and the smell of powder...and the challenge of being able to hit far-away targets.   I must agree that it can be relaxing, as long as you are aware of the safety issues (e.g. muzzle always down range, action clear before putting gun down, etc..)
