Interesting to hear, but I found myself constantly comparing it to the original. And it's not as good. But I still gave it an "8".

Absolutely awesome! Hearing this live version makes me feel like I'm there...I can almost see the show in my mind... It's sad to think there are no live performances today that can come close to the incomparable, legendary Pink Floyd; but it's also inspiring and an honor to know they performed their best during our lifetime.
I'm looking forward to hearing this again!

Thank you for playing this. This was very, very cool. I especially like Clare Tory's vocals. Pink at it's best!

First thing I've heard from any of the new PF remastered albums. Loved it. Please play another side's worth!

I love Pink Floyd, I love the original DSoM, I could listen to them for days on end...and have. This, I'm not digging so much. :(

Fun! A new version, recorded before they got terminally sick of performing it.

ddehoyos wrote:Thank you Bll for 50+ minutes of vintage PF. Just to remind everyone again, this is a listener supported radio station. If you don't like something you have choices. Change the station or wait a few minutes, the song will undoubtedly change. It isn't necessary to bash Bill for playing what he plays. I support RP (i wish i could do more) and I don't whine about twangy stuff around lunchtime. The next song is always around the corner.
Hey, it's Bill's station, he can play whatever he wants. If someone doesn't like it, just wait a bit. |

Somehow, I also missed the entire PF album last week, but I would have LOVED it. Nothing like enjoying them for more than just one song to help relieve the stress in the office... to just work while in my "Happy Place"!

Glad to have heard it (actually just midway from Money on). Wouldn't mind hearing it again, but I have to say that Gilmour sounds really rough on money. Is Rick singing on Us And Them, because that vocal sounds like Gilmour (they do sound similar) and also rough.
However, Any Colour is really good (better than the live version I heard on PLJ many years ago, or better than i remember it) and while Brain/Eclipse don't equal the original, Waters voice is in better shape than Dave's and/or Rick's.
Until I hear it again, I'm not convinced that the new Experience version DSoTM set is worth getting, much less the emersion set (though I'd really like the Quad version of the album, as well as a 5.1 mix that's not on SACD).

fredriley wrote:Sorry, Bill, IMO this is an unnecessary overdose and may well lose listeners. I'm a mild fan of Floyd and consider the studio album to be a classic, but we're 30 minutes in (at least) to this Floydfest with no prospect of another song, and the quality of this live recording is much inferior to the studio version. That's me for the off for the now, I'm afraid.

Yeah but my thoughts are that their brains should be formed a little more before using mind-altering substance—perhaps they would be agreeable to waiting until 17 or 18? I know they grow up (or are forced to) faster these days but I would have been totally unprepared to see their value at 13—hell I didn't even appreciate CCR at 13. Best alternative: they discover everything on their own with little (seeming) intervention. They are a lot smarter than we give them credit for. Trying to point them never works. |
