And to all of you "is it over yet?" whiners, it's obvious that you're all a bunch of spoiled little kids who were coddled by your parents every time you whined "are we there yet" in the backseat...you're the reason cars now have to come with DVD players. Can't you just look out the window and enjoy the view? Fortunately, I know you're not even reading this. You quit after the first paragraph, because it's too long.

Thank you, that says it all. Look out the window and enjoy the view music.

What too many notes for you?  This piece of music is some of the best Rock n Roll every made/played.  I doubt too many people would just stand and watch this, most would be dancing their ass off.  I sure would like to see some of the bands we listen to today play this, if only.

i love this. got to see them way back when with molly hatchet. AWESOME. although i can't forget some drunken a-hole sitting in front of us (who didn't know his ass from his elbow) chanting non-stop "play mississippi queen!"

it always kinda drove me crazy when people would refer to the allman bros. as a "southern rock" band. i think they were way beyond that moniker.

If I could ever bring back a dead rock star Duane Allman would be my first choice. He was only 24 when that motorcyle hit that truck. I know this is a Betts tune. I just had to add my two cents and now was as good as a time as ever. {#Angel}

Sweet. Period piece yes, but still a great wonderful piece of music.

Now I know there is no god. If gods exists then that song would've ended like, um, 18 minutes ago.

Okay, so I looked at Wikipedia top learn:
The song is named after a headstone Dickey Betts saw at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon, Georgia. By no coincidence both Duane Allman and Berry Oakley are buried in the same cemetery as Elizabeth Reed, as it was a place frequented by the band in thier early days, for relaxing and writing songs, among other things (guess).

Otherwise, this truely is a period piece - trance music doesn't translate well to the me/now generation.

my sentiments exactly. i can appreciate the skill involved here, but man this does go on.... and on, and on and on. And I have an exceptionally lengthy attention span so that isn't the problem.

This is arguably one of the best songs ever written. It's godlike, a 10 - and not a single point less. Period. ;)

I am sooooo glad my friend made me go see these guys when I was like 15. No matter who is in the lineup at the time they are such an amazing jam band. One of my all time favorite Classic rock bands.

To everybody who said this or something similar: Yes. This is one of the finest live recordings ever made. This tune was the apogee of the Allmans.

Very true! Nice remark! Please don't forget the Pat Metheny Group here... Wouldn't they fit very well with the Allman Brothers?!

You are disqualified from ever being taken seriously by virtue of your admission of "American Idol" existance alone -- my god you watch that crap and listen to RP and then you extol your views? Back to your room for a long, long time! And NO DESSERT! EVER!

One of the very few pieces of music I can listen to at least once a day and never get tired of. Brings back some very blurry, colorful, fantastic teenage years -- WHOA! So THAT's a flashback?! I want more... NOW!
