A definite classic that's stood the test of time.  In fact, that whole album is timeless.  I dig Duane's guitar work and also think Greg added some great vocal touches.  The way he says certain repeated phrases varies some.  He expresses real fear for his life if he goes out that door.  And, a real sense that he doesn't know if it's her man but he sure ain't willing to find out.  Then that last closing sequence where it's just his voice and the others let him solo, then they all wrap it up with a big close.  Very great live performance.

I concur completely...

After almost forty years, this tune STILL makes the hair on my neck stand up; the guitar work is nothing short of epic.

I put 1 Way Out on our "music to ride the exercise bike by" & made my wife an Allman Brothers fan.

This is such an "UP" song.

This jus' might happen t' be some of the greatest live licks ever put on vinyl (with a nod to Sweet Jane, of course).

Rolling Stone magazine had a list last year of the top 100 guitarists of all times. 4 out of 100 were in the Allman Brothers Band at one point or another. That speaks to something, I'd say.

The top four were:

Jimi
Duane
B.B.
Eric

Eric has played/recorded with all three others.

All other Allman Brothers work pales in comparison to their invention of the tediously long bridge.

But at least the album cover is pretty cool.

The jenius is gone, but the spirit lives on....

Somebody else who's covered the song, I'm guessing.

Great tune, even with the mistake.

It was written by a harmonica player. They don't have a lot of notes to choose from.
