Absolutley. The 'sweet Melinda' section was written just for me, even down to the name. |

Hey, what do you all suppose it *means* that Dylan is wearing that motorcycle t-shirt?

From back when "she took you up to her room" actually meant something naughty.

Love Dylan but just really got into his music lately. I used to not "get" his music either because of his unusual vocal stylings! But now....I just love almost all of his music. This is a fabulous story song and great harmonica. Rock on Bob.

Reading the lyrics is a helpful start since you will see the intelligence and sarcasim that provided an insightful look at America at the time. Although, Zappa said he liked Dylan up till he stated writing cowboy tunes. |

I like a lot of Dylan's stuff, and have listened to his music since this was a new album. That said, this particular song is a sterling example of making sure everything is horridly out of tune -- even the freakin' piano is out of tune on this. I think my head's gonna esplode any minute.

dewhead wrote:If you can't get past Dylan's voice to appreciate the music and then lyrics then I feel a real pity for you. Sometimes the most beautiful things in the world seem to be plain on the surface. But if you scratch the surface sometimes you find a beauty that can change your whole perception of the word "beauty". Yes, I know the whole "scratch the surface" thing is a old and tired analogy, but it still works. I love to hear Dylan sing. I love Dylan and what you said really hit the nail on the head. he was a revolutionary and got people thinking: the war, racism, etc. He's a wonderful songwriter! |

Ditto. A 10 for a great album from a musician who was the voice of an era. |

That plagued me for a while, too. The sample works well in that track.
