Dare I say Dylan's best song ever?

So spontaneous and passionate! It sounds like they hardly rehearsed it and recorded it in one take. The bassplayer can hardly follow the changes, it seems and makes some mistakes, but it hardly matters and only adds to the tension! Almost like an abstract piece of art.

Oh yes oh yes!!! Leslie, did you ever see them at Frost Amphiteater at Stanford? Such good times there. Actually, the Dead have turned me on to several other groups including The Neville Brothers (Hey Pocky Way). And they were on the same bill with Los Lobos and David Lindley down at Laguna Seca. Ahh, the memories.

Please, sit and honestly listen to this entire album sometime.
Really, you might be pleasantly surprised. :D

This is Dylan's masterpiece. I think it was Arlo Guthrie who once said that writing music is like fishing in a river--just don't fish downstream of Bob Dylan, the master fisherman.

As for him "borrowing" phrases for Love and Theft, hey, what musician hasn't done that? One of the great things about music--and art in general--is the constant borrowing and redefining of themes and styles. I say more power to him. I guess there's a limit, a la George Harrison and He's So Fine, but I can't imagine Mr. Zimmerman would cross that Rubicon.

Perhaps Dylan's best.

Dylan songs vary from a bit cr@p to unbelievably profound. The man is a poet, and though not a great singer, in the way that marvin gaye or pavarotti are great singers, his voice is right for his songs. Strained though it may be, it has pathos.

Could have used "Like a Rolling Stone," "Your're a Big Girl Now" or "Idiot Wind" (notice a trend?) today, but this one will do nicely.

Bob Dllan is a god

Great song, one of his bests.

There is an article in today's Wall Street Journal about Dylan "borrowing" some passages from a book by a Japanese Doctor named, Dr. Saga and putting them in "Love and Theft". It's very interesting. I very nice article about Dylan, really.

One of my all-time favorite songs....love the jingle-jangle guitars.....and I LOVE his voice! His voice isn't the greatest, but he conveys so much emotion with it....

There's something about his style that you can't help but love. He doesn't really have a voice of any kind, but wow, it works.

Phenomenal Dylan song. I hated Dylan when I was younger; I thought his voice was weird and that he rambled on incoherently. Not true, you just have to *listen*. His songs are often collections of amazing and thought-provoking vignettes. And the voice… well, it’s an acquired taste. But I’ve acquired it. This was probably my “gateway song,” leading me on into “harder” stuff.

Great Dylan tune. Indigo Girls do a great cover of this on their (live) album 1200 curfews.
