Loved the Doors when I was a teenager. Now I see them as one of the truly talentless bands of that era. Many bands have withstood the test of time but the Doors aren't one of them.

I live in LA, and this song evokes the city perfectly. One of the all time greats.

It's a good song, but so overplayed that I need to be fairly inebriated to get into it nowadays.

Hand me a beer.

I don't care how much play this gets...it will always be brilliant in my books

a lot of hostility out there for a song recorded 36 years ago.... it evokes so much feeling from people, guess it might be important in rnr

One of the most electric and creative combos to ever perform. If I was given the chance to see one band at their peak that is no longer around it would be the Doors.

To negate them as being second rate, is to not understand true musical chemistry. Never beforeand never again will a spirit like thier's be generated by a group of individuals.

Sorry if you don't get it.

I remember being high back in college days and deciding gravity was a giant rubber band. Naturally, I then shared this new found wisdom with my friends.

I wonder if they would still regard my theory as "physics?"

Nailed.

Yeah I don't really get them either. I have all the Beatles albumns, a ton of Stones, and a few Beach Boys. I have no problem with that era. This stuff just seem special to me. Ok but nothing special. Had to be there maybe?

I guess. I am old enough to remember the 70's (which is close enough for government work) but I still don't see . . . er, hear the attraction.

Nice work on this song by drummer John Densmore. Accelerating the tempo from the slow 'mojo risin' section back to the original tempo PERFECTLY and slides right back into the groove....before the days of click tracks. Takes a very precise sense of rhythm and timing to do that.

Drank many bottles of booze & smoked many a doobie to the Doors, often fantasizing, with romantic notions of L.A., which is, really, a cesspool.

The best Doors song by far and the best LA song ever. This really says it all about that town.

If a song can ever be said to evoke the essence, or at least the reputation of a place, then this is one.

not a bad song, but the little 'mojo rising' near the ending has always made me reach for a new station.

Yeah, Jimbo's ego couldn't resist making and using the anagram of his own name as ''Mr. Mojo Risin'.''

Its a worthy song when played on the RP playlist. I don't listen to the stations anymore that have me agree with your sentiment. Commercial radio sure did/does? play this a LOT, just a little less than commercials....

The song that pulled me into The Doors. For so long, I sat outside on the street, wondering what was so great about them, trying to figure out what the cool kids knew. I still don't.
