OK, the nose-up-in-the-air elitists can shove it -- this song rocks. But that said, it would be nice if RP would play more 'B-side' or obscurer of the classics. How about "Lost Little Girl" or "Waiting for the Sun" or "Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar)"?

One definition of self-indulgent could be that "Mr. Mojo Risin" is an anagram of "Jim Morrison".

That being said, I do dig this tune. I have very good (if hazy, pupils-as-big-as-saucer) memories of "The End" too. Equally self-indulgent tho it is.

Are you going to play this to death TOO?
I hear this song all the time on the crappy FM rock stations which are too lame to dig any deeper into "unsafe" territory.
Don't let us down.
Live on the edge! That's what RP is all about.

Yeah, but this one has been played to death. RP needs to go deeper into the catalog, and leave this one to others...

A toe tapping-tastic, rip roaring roller-coaster ride of a song. You've just got to admire the energy conveyed thru the musicianship, but in a less heavy way than, say, Hendrix. Even if it is alcohol/drug fueled and Jim Morrison was an a**hole, I'm a fan of the doors for their music.

It's VERY simple (at least in the rock n' roll world) .... you take 3 talented musicians ... a kick-ass singer .... and you write GREAT original songs that are created in a completely unique style ... simple enough !*!*!! .... the proof here is in the rating ... 2/3's of the ratings here on RP are above average !!**! :D

I know people like the Doors, and when I first heard them as a kid I enjoyed them, but I've really grown to cringe when I hear these songs. I hate saying something is overplayed because, really, if you like it enough it doesn't matter - but that's not the case for me.

I also don't get why Jim Morisson is so venerated. Listening to Ray Manzarek in interviews you get the feeling J.M. was a jerk when he was high and drunk, which was most of the time. And while the lyrics may be good, I have a hard time putting them in the genius category. Someone help me here...
