The Trinity Session is one of my all time favorite albums. It's . . . liquid.

You'd need to ask them.
You have a bright future as a writer for Ann Coulter --- take something out of context and add a snotty riposte. |

Wonder how that'll work ...

Interesting. How slight? I have loved Trinity Sessions lo these many years, but I don't usually re-buy music unless there are enough differences to make it worth it. Can anyone help me here?
"In 2007 they released Trinity Revisited a re-recording of the album featuring guest artists Ryan Adams, Vic Chesnutt, Natalie Merchant, and Jeff Bird. Both the album and the film "Trinity Revisited" were filmed and produced by Pierre and François Lamoureux. On 9 November 2007, CBC aired Trinity Revisited: featuring Cowboy Junkies, which was recorded as the band recorded the new album in the same church they used the first time." - Wikipedia (click here)

It's quite good.

It's quite good.

What he said. Same is true of other great covers on this particular album -- such as Walking after Midnight, in an utterly different tempo from the original. |

This one got an 8 from me. But I would be lying I said that at least one of those points were for the amazing pictures that were on SnappRadio for this song (most unrelated to the song itself, just beautifully contructed photography).

I hate lame, poorly executed re-imagined covers as much as the next fella, but, this particular effort, imnsho, really finds its own somber groove. The "juice" hasn't been neutralized, but rather given a new perspective. The power is still there, despite the seemingly drowsy delivery Margot provides. It's a different take, and reverential to its source. I also happen to think this version is better, and that almost never happens... |

Just saw the Cowboy Junkies along the Detroit River at the mouth of Lake Erie at Fort Malden in Amherstburg ON- phenomenal setting- Margot said it was one of the best venues they had played in a long time- no kidding!
They were absolutely captivating.. one of the geat bands on tour right now.

I wouldn't go as far as narcoloptic. I was just thinking this is probably very appropriate as a cover now because a lot of the angst and energy of the original has been replaced by a quiet contentment. This is also probably representative of 90% or more of the fans of the original (myself included) who now live a calmer but still satisfying differnt life than they did when they were in their early 20's. Still good, still the same underneath, still different in many ways. |

the lofty 8.1 rating average is a tribute, of course, much more to Velvet Underground than the Cowboy Junkies.

Just this afternoon I was sitting in the sun on my back porch listening to Pale Sun, Crescent Moon on my headphones. That's a much better example of what these guys are capable of than this song is, if you ask me. Trinity Session is a cool record and I think this is a fine cover, but there are four or five other Cowboy Junkies albums I like a lot more.
