Dire, painful to listen to. Sorry. If you want a British singer songwriter that can sing put some Martha Tilston on your playlist.

You are way, way off.  I wasn't remotely trying to piggyback on another music critic.  I happen to like Beth Orton and wasn't trying to criticize the song.
All my original comment was saying was that I found the other comment hilarious.  If I laugh at a joke told by Louis CK, does that mean I'm trying to be a comic or even agreeing with the statement he made by his joke?  Some things are just funny.
So you call me "bankrupt" on account of that?  It appears you're the one with "easy cynicism."

What's that?  "Bankrupt" was just a figure of speech?  Well, so was "made my day."

F'ing troll.

Ditto to the comments below.  Who told these folks they could sing?  And they recorded it just to have proof how badly they vocalize!  You should 86 this one, Mr. B.

Iwas just thinking, what a sweet song this is, makes me feel good.
I came to find out what album it's on and rate it, and I see I've previously given it a ONE!!!
I have no idea what I was thinking!!!
Although her breathy styling often irritates me, I find I like this very much!!
I think 7 or 8 is in order...

I love Beth Orton. Saw her at ACL Fest one year, she was wonderful. Maybe, just maybe, she's out of tune on purpose? Discordant, even? She don't exactly sing feel-good tunes, so out-of-tune may be the POINT. Ever listen to Hank Williams? Sometimes he sounds more like a wounded animal than a human. On purpose. 'Art' ain't always about 'beauty'. c.

This song will pass soon...
In the meantime perhaps we should act like we won't be here tomorrow because we don't just know.
