If you are not a Dead fan, read 'Searching For The Sound' by Phil Lesh, (with an objective mind, of course), and you will come to appreciate the band's music even more. Great description of this song and album coming to life. Glass up!! |

Songwriters: GARCIA, JERRY / HUNTER, ROBERT I see you've got your list out, say your piece and get out Guess I get the gist of it, but it's alright Sorry that you feel that way. The only thing there is to say Every silver lining's got a touch of grey I will get by, I will get by, I will get by, I will survive.

I, too, have followed them from the beginning—in fact from the time they were The Warlocks, and regardless of what you think of its place in the greater canon of their work, this is a pretty cool song. Garcia's solo could serve as an object lesson to beginning guitarists on how to build your solo around the song's melody.
I miss Jerry as a creative force. No matter where he was, no matter the genre, he made things happen.
As one of the faithful, I thank you for your words. |

Ho man, you really hit the nail with this one WonderLizard! I actually Love this song for what it represents (Jerry coming back for Round 2). And I totally dig the guitar solo. Wiht the comment above, I now have a handle with which to listen to it, building around the melody. Perfect. And yes, there is a Lion in that man. |

This is the only Dead song I could name off the top of my head and probably only if heard it playing. Never could get into the Dead...at all and this is probably the one and only song I ever liked (not so much anymore because of the massive overplay in the summer of 87). |

Cracks me up how much negativity this song seems to attract from some... I happen to *love* it, so thanks for playing!

GAAAH! I am actually tempted to make an exception to my "no song should be rated Sucko-Barfo" policy for this song.

I have uploaded several live tunes (ones regarded as some of their best) but Rebecca has rejected them all. I don't bother anymore. |

I loved this song before its commercial release. Of course I went through the anathema phase with it as well. Now I've learned to distinguish the song I like from the phase of the Dead's history that I could have done without.

Sure isn't what I think of when I think of the Dead, but it's still catchy and groovy.
