for anybody that knows even a bit about psychiatry, the lyrics are bollocks
the tune ain't that good either
I'm glad it got released though, to prove even a "deity" like Jimi can make mistakes, too

Great track from my favorite Hendrix album. Wish I still had the Vinyl...

The idea that one man, one very magical man, was able to do so much, with one guitar and friends so firm in the grip and grasp of such an unbound mind and unhindered spirit...just kinda blows my freaking mind, like only Jimmy can. Way on up, this one goes, every time!

Everybody in my church loves this song...

Turned this one UP!!
I did too... but unfortunately my pathetic little desktop speakers do not do the song justice.

Not an individual song I might put on very often,
but it always seems to hit the spot when someone else does.

the only person to make depression sound GOOD.

Was in Seattle last week for work and took some time to take in the Experience Music Project (EMP) museum. Fantastic exhibit on Hendrix in London (as well as Nirvana and the Stones '72 American tour). Great museum!

Thanks for playing this, Bill. This is one Hendrix piece that isn't played much... and another showcase for Redding and Mitchell, too.

I realize I've gone completely off the reservation but to me Band of Gypsys was the sh**t! there was some brilliant albeit brief work done there. a heavier sound with cox and miles, and some absolute ripass giiittarr.... case in point...lonesome train

Not the best of John Allen" - by far!
Still - it's our Jimi "Untouchable" Hendrix!
Still - we should not forget
great Mitch "Fame" Mitchell,
and Noel "Fat Matress" Redding!
Only as a Trio they accomplished this sounds.
Both - Mitch and Noel got 20.000 Dollar
when released from their rights in the band.
2o-touuuuusand laughable bucks - while, later,
father Hendrix made multi-millions from the
heritage of his son!

B&R - Frequent mention of Soft Machine here. Can't we get some please?

One of my favorite Hendrix tunes and definitely my favorite rockin tune. Most of his best works are his slower ballads IMO. This song roks!!

1969 again. Saw Jimi that year at the Bank Street Theatre here in Ottawa. Opening act Soft Machine. Great show. Old movie theatre and pieces of the ceiling were being peeled off by the volume

Still one of my favorite Hendrix albums was the last one he did in a studio, "Cry of Love", which then became entagled in a huge legal battle between his surviving relatives. It was finally re-released about 10 years or so on a CD, but because of the legal outcome, was not released under the original title, but under "The First Rays of the New Rising Sun". Drifiting has got to be one of my all time favorite Hendrix tunes, as it is a slow song with great lyrics, "Drifting through a sea of forgotten teardrops....."

It would be a "Manic Depression" not to listen to this unique and talented musician!
