I remember when this came out... lotsa memories...
this song is from a beautiful album... then a year later, the third album by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers called Damn the Torpedoes came next in 1979, and that album broke Tom Petty into big time superstar status... Damn the Torpedoes caused a global stir...
this is a great song, but I bet these days she listens to her kidneys...

I have a 12" white label of this track which is vastly better than this version. Much punchier and altogether more powerful. Somewhat slower too, if my memory serves me right. I have never heard the same version of the track elsewhere. I might try and digitise it one day and upload it to RP.

Not knowing any of the parties personally, I'd predict the winner would be the fellow with the money and the cocaine. But maybe that was just the seventies.

And, 30 yrs ago, this was NOT what they played on the radio. This, Costello, the Pretenders, B-52s...all top 40 poison. |

On RP, are you kidding? You'll probably find plenty of people who will say just that.
But not me. |

Isn't that ironic. When I saw TP around 1980, I was (alcohol) wasted. I even broke the back of my chair and took it home. The guy tapping me on the back to get me to sit down shut up after that. And the Fab Poos! I think I still have a (vinyl) album of theirs somewhere... |
