I know he is a legend and all, and I like old style acoustic blues, but this almost seems like a parody.

I was born in the ignoble city of Springfield, MA, and this is where Taj Mahal is from.  Through the years he did a lot of great shows in Springfield even thoug it sucks to the zenith point.

This Clarence Carter- Patches came out in 1970- 2 years after Taj Mahal's(born May 17, 1942), first album was released( Taj cut this about 1996).
I think he listened to a bit of Clarence(click here)(born January 14, 1936) in his early formative years-Luvluvluv Taj Mahal, jes sayin'. I bet if you were to untangle things far enough, they've probably run across each other, or are at least aware of each other. They both had debut albums in 1968.
Two very different approaches, by my standard of measurement. Clarence is the real deal. Taj Mahal is an accomplished and entertaining musician who is a student of and advocate for Blues music.

If you can get to a Taj concert, do it! Everyone will be dancing and having a great time!!  A soon as his music starts people jump out of their seats to get on the dance floor.

Taj fans --

35 years ago I first heard his West Indian Revelation, which I loved but never knew who or what it was until just last year. So I uploaded it to the LRC and it's currently in review to get on this playlist. Any signed-on RP member who wants to hear it here, vote {YES} for my long-lost treasure! Thanks!

Good guy, good humor, plus he even did the theme song to Peep and the Big Wide World, so he's gotta have a good sense of humor
