Totally agree. Lucky Dube was brilliant. Very different sound than Marley. Almost more soulful as hard as that is to believe. |

Often true, and also a leading factor in my general dislike of the genre. Right up there with the holier-than-thou religious pronouncements. Not so much in this song, however. Set in Africa (or is the protagonist headed to Africa?), it could be any of a number of tribal or governmental entities after him. Although I get the reference, Far away from Babylon isn't as much a racial slur as it is a Luddite fantasy, and getting Africa to unite has a lot more to do with settling tribal power scores than anything else. I can't say many songs outrank this gem in terms of its spirit and optimism. Love it...any time!

I think those that hate Marley seem to hate Santana as well, must be something in the groove that is being missed.

I like reggae. Every minute of it. Especially the early stuff like Toots that only RP plays. |

Because this listener digs reggae just as much as any other type of music, In fact when I am not listening to Radio Paradise, I am streaming a live station out of Kingston. Irie vibes from tha Radio Paradise..... |
