Agreed, but I can definitely see the influence. Too conventional of a copy, maybe?  It's almost there, but it just doesn't hit it.

"The world can wait"???  Not with the way things are going.  I recommend following this song with R.L. Burnside's "It's Bad, You Know!"

Felt compelled to rate this, and saw that I already had it as a 2.

Downgraded to 1 in hopes I never have to do this again.

I think you would find the same thing with everyone here as most of the classics were written before 1980.{#Whisper}

Very early OTR. Check out their new stuff, she has really improved her singing and their songs are fantastic.

Hmmm, not bad but at the end it's really too much IMHO, it annoys the crap out of me...

I would have fleshed out the cello a little and added a wailing telecaster.... of course!

I'm not taking sides here, but you do realize that human history is largely composed of things that happened before 1980 as well?

Bill followed this one up with Fiona's "Criminal", maybe he's reading auburntigerrich's comments? Hhhmm?

Bought the album a while back.  "Give Me Strength", and to a lesser extent, this tune, are really the only highlights, sadly.  It's worth a listen, but very moody and only appropriate for a particular mental state... kinda like most Fiona albums.  The instrumentation is powerful and well mixed, but don't queue it up for dinner parties.

Listenable+.  7.

... and on this Wed. 8/25/2010 guess what Bill played after this tune ... "Criminal" by Fiona Apple {#Sunny}
