At its time (1988) the only competition for Sinead O'Conner: great talents both!

One of my favorite singers... loved her immediately when this album came out. Here's a great documentary about Bjork from the 90s. It appeared on Bravo here in the US: http://youtu.be/r_JDhPjUl6U |

Nothin like Bjork or Sugarcubes to make a rainy day to shine.

You bet. I thought she'd sneaked a new album past me. Very surprised to see that this is from the 80's.... |

Did Björk study Mongolian throat singing?

First concert I ever went to, Sugarcubes and Public Enemy opened for U2. That was 1993 I think. What a show!

I too saw them for the first time then, and I'm agreed. Most of my friends (both male/female) from that time period spent plenty of time wondering what it might be like to make love with Bjork. . . I must confess that I gave it a thought or two myself. . . |

At first I thought this might be Bat For Lashes. I didn't know it was our little Icelandic pixie until more phlegm was hacked up vocals ensued.

I have the same nostalgic feeling.I went to see them in the late 80's during their first gigs in Paris. They were a bit crazy but the atmosphere was great. Björk had already an incredible presence on stage. I really love this first album.
ginger wrote:Cool. Takes me back to when I first saw/heard of the Sugarcubes. I caught them on Saturday Night Live years ago, and was mezmerized by Bjork. Bought this album right away, and still love to pull it out now and then.
