And for once, there is a drum solo that doesn't cause moans and groans. As my college roommate would say - "tasty!"

This is a classic song, but it is very overplayed on RP. There is so much more great jazz that should be played instead, Miles, Coltrane, Charlie Parker, or even other Brubek songs. I think you must play this at least once a day, or it seems that I hear it way too much.

I agree, stop doing the pop radio station thing and play something differnt from his collection, perhaps Un square square dance |

RIP Dave. Passed away 1 day shy of his 92nd birthday. I had the pleasure of seeing him at the Ottawa Jazz Festival at 88 years young. Still tore up the keys - what a show!
Oddly, I was discussing Dave's passing with a colleague, returned to RP and hit the PSD button. This is what came up. Goosebumps.

One of my biggest regrets after many years of seeing just about everyone live, was missing out on just one DBQ show. Glad you got to see him, my friend, thanks for sharing your memories! |

I grew up on his music (thanks mom & dad) and Paul Desmond is the primary reason I became a sax player. RIP Dave. Your music is such a legacy.
