IIRC there's full credit given to Peter Gabriel on the CD cover (I'll have a look when I get home), and he was the Afro-Celt's miwife. This is acknowledged on the Wikipedia entry.

Pohg ma thoin was inscribed on the centre of the Boomtown Rats  LP, can't remember the name now. OOh weren't we naughty in those days! Ha ha, I hid the LP from the parents in case they saw it, how punk is that...

Pòg mo thòin ;-)
How can it be "dated"? The ACSS (Wikipedia entry) has only been in existence since 1996 and this CD came out in 2001. Is your concept of time so narrow that 8 years is "dated"? Or is that a reference to the Irish and Scottish melodies and rhythms being used?

Crazy! So the question IS the answer. Deep.

On another note, I really want to give this a 1, but I've reserved 1's for Cowboy Junkies and Tracy Chapman. If someone could find a connection between this group and either of the above, I'd be much obliged.

And, unfortunately, we are fighting carp again. I, too, have purchased THREE ACSS CDs since I began listening to RP.

dunno about this song specifically, but they are or have been on his label: he does vocals for a song they did that got a decent amount of pop radio play over the past six months.
