I'm a fan of the Beta Band and a major fan of Harry Nilsson - who wrote and covered the song. To borrow a phrase...this cover is a disaster.

Fans of the Beta Band know that this song is widely considered a disaster. I have to agree. to msully7 &el_stoo's point - i might agree that we don't hear enough "other" music here - it's mostly white-bread pop & indie (which I happen to like). BUT just because someone dismisses this song doesn't mean that they are closed-minded or that they hate a whole genre of music, it just means that they don't like this song.

i totally agree. This whole station seems to be hypocritical. How is it eclectic when it excludes so much music? I hear oh so very little punk, rap, country, metal, electronica. I know those may be dirty words to so many of you, but they take talent and involve intelligence just as much as the surprisingly narrow amount of genres available on this 'eclectic' station. An true music fan appreciates all types of music, regardless of genre. This includes everything from classical to experimental.

While I don't like the song, I want to encourage Bill to continue adding occaisional hip-hop, trip-hop and rap to the mix - keeps it interesting!

Fuse? sounds more like a hack, run-of-the-mill hip-hop trying to trade in on nostalgia. Not really satisfying as either.

I don't get rap enough to appreciate the subtleties of this tune. I suspect it might be some kind of statement, but I'm not sure -- I'm not against hip hop per se, but until such a time as I become more enlightened I have to give it a 1. :???:
