He came up, he was bumping against me a lot. That stale, killer whale, bumping up against someone so pale and frail. How was I supposed to know the killer whale relationship had gone stale? Welllll…

He brushes up to me a couple times, his skin’s like sandpaper. I say, “Hey man, Bartholomew, what’s up? What’s goin’ on big fella? What is it? What is it? I don’t want to steal your mommy and I sure don’t want to take the place of your daddy. I only wanna be your friend.”

And he circled around, I thought we were all patched up and I was scrubbing and he took my, he came and he, he came and he, he ripped, he ripped my left arm off."

The crazy mind of Gord. He rides the mic, goes through hankies about 1 every five minutes and at times drops into these trances while the two guitarists set sail on some amazing solos. They are playing here this summer at Bluesfest.

I don't really know if they have made an impact outside of Canada or not.
Music for music lovers.

I would say they are not very well known here.   I discovered them in the late 80's when I had an old satillite dish and got the Canadian station Much Music.   Does that still exist?   I found a lot of great artists on there, Canadian and others.   I have 3 of their albums and have seen them twice.   I believe they opened for Page/Plant.   Also saw them at a small club in St. Louis.   Great shows!   They are one of my favorite bands.

You are starting to get it. Trying screaming out the chorus along with Gordy baby. It'll feel better.

Nice screaming guitar, solid bottom.

I first heard this song broadcast from a Toronto radio station as I drove along the New York Thruway near Buffalo 15 years ago.I had never heard of this ecentric band that apparently everyone in Canada and many in The States had.I fought the temptation to call in a radio request in 2005 as reports of Katrina rolled in.To this day this riff is one of my favorites.

Frankly, making valid points coherently would be a refreshing change.  Having said that, I'd point out that from time to time, there are some startlingly insightful comments from time to time.

I would say the album 'Fully Completely' was my favourite Hip release. Its so weird seeing people commenting on this group as though hearing it (as the case may be) for the first time. These guys are established legends in Canada.

So the last note in this song sounds like the first in a Dick Dale song that I can't remember the name of.  Just saying...

Oh, and yes, "that being said" is used far too often. Users assume that the listener needs some hand-holding to follow logic. If you have to use something, use "further...". My office mates and I discussed this ("at the end of the day" of course) and decided we would slap the next jerk that used it. Also, "shut the f*ck up" is used far too often. heeheh

Personally, I use "that being said" as a construction that allows me to outline all the points of an opponent's argument that I agree with, before setting out the ones I don't. Always better to get the common ground established right away, then determine where the differences are. That being said....kidding! Kidding!

The group took their name from a Michael Nesmith video entitled Elephant Parts

Darn - I always assumed they took it from the last line of the chorus to Elvis Costello's Town Cryer

I'm the town crier
And everybody knows
I'm a little down
With a lifetime to go
Maybe you don't believe my heart is in the right place
Why don't you take a good look at my face
Other boys use the splendour of their trembling lip
They're so teddy bear tender and tragically hip
