I love Spike Jones. Saw him interviewed once, and he was getting antsy. So he's in his kitchen, right? He picks up a couple of butter knives, the old very round '50s type, and starts "drumming" everything in sight. Cupboard, pots, stovetop, the cat. Turns out he started as a percussionist, and he was showing off. What a musician. And the City Slickers—what a band! Honk! Clank! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeez! |

I remember the song and the name "Spike Jones" but didn't know he did the song and at first, I thought you were talking about Spike Milligan (who else has heard of him?). Well, I did see him in "the Bedsitting Room" in the middle of the 6th decade of the last Century. |

There is something like pop parody in their music, kinda like the Dandy Warhols. I like their album "13" a lot, which has some more serious efforts. It did not seem to be appreciated as much by their fans. |
