I more like their earlier records, this sounds a bit polished

Some quality musicians here. Love the Dan...and yes this is Steve Gadd on drums. Not always in the mood for them...but am now. Yep this is good.

dear lawd! I can't even begin to express my loathing for steely dan, and this song in particular. Maybe I just never did qualudes or something. |

Listening to this song makes me feel like I've time traveled though the far east - and not necessarily the lyrics....

Perhaps their best album. Skills aplenty.

Skunky studio musician jazz – I know, some folks get goose bumps from disjointed repetitious freewheeling, as for me this discordant crap causes cringing! |

I love Steely Dan and can't stand Johnny Cash, you love Cash and hate Steely Dan, but you know the best part... Bill ignores us both and keeps playing both (and that annoying Shatner Common People thing). In a perverse way I like the fact my "1" delivery to Cash makes no difference, if it did, I would end up with my own music collection... and I already have that. I like Johnny Cash, but I LOVE Steely Dan. They made some incredible music! I'll listen to whatever RP plays... |

On the bright side, you need some low points to really appreciate the high points, and on RP there are mostly high points. There is so much wrong with this sentiment that it's hard to know where to start. So I won't. Friend, give the drums a close listen the next time around, and if you can still call this song a "low point," well, it's your loss. Mush is what sled dogs do. |

Doesn't mean everybody should love it but I sure do. Yeah, something that has been a delight to me for many decades now is to sit at the piano and try to figure out chords. I think the two people who have delivered the most confusion to me have been Donald Fagen and Richard Wright. It was only after his death that I discovered that Wright was a huge fan of John Coltrane - which made me say "ah!" to myself. |

I notice a few ''Negatives'' but as its been said before they probably to young to have lived through this era.. thus missing this progressive music. hence the misunderstanding. And as George Orwell wrote in 'Animal Farm' ''2 Minutes GOOD... 4+Minutes BAD'' ...Thanks Bill for playing. We are ageing and so what. This album in '77 was the cherry on the top of all their other sublime music. |
