Bought the CD in the 80s and was surprised and alienated at first.
Then listend to it over and over and it started to grow.
Now consider it one of the best CDs I own.

I thought people were locked away for making music like this in the 80's... Just as well not all of them were! Excellent unique atmosphere, and Laughing Stock (the next album) is even better!  |

The only real way to appreciate it fully, IMHO, is to get comfortable and sit down and listen to it all the way through at volume.... a nice glass of wine adds a dimension as well!!! |

This is too slow-paced, almost like slow motion music. In general, they need to pick it up. It's not edgy. It's not ominous or creepy, which is what it would need to be at this pace to be any good.

It's a sadness to me that Mark Hollis simply stopped making music after his one solo album. And if you like late stage Talk Talk and haven't heard his self-titled album you should check it out.
Love the last three TT albums, especially in light of their Duran Duranish beginnings...they came far and then vanished. This is great stuff in my opinion, the sound of a band playing music that interested them and not aimed at the charts.
An 8 from me, and still trending upwards.
