Great play! I haven't played/heard this in ages, but you fall right into it like a comfortable old chair. l just wonder how it's received by people who hear it for the first time?

Ah, return with us now to wandering down the dorm hall, hearing interesting music, and asking the person playing it about the band. That's how I first heard this album.
Man, that's longer ago than I want to even think about.

I thought that the background keyboards would make a good cell phone ring tone, but I couldn't find a long enough section without vocals.

I love all 3 versions of this song , but prefer this.
There is an excellent tribute band called The Musical Box that performs the Lamb show — exactly as Genesis did it in'74- '75. If you are interested in early Genesis / Gabriel, I strongly recommend that you check them out.

All respect to Peter's solo work, which I mostly love, and understanding the love for the early Genesis from people who didn't like their pop records sung by Phil, but the whole prog rock thing generally is not my cup of tea.
Of the major - successful prog acts - and I don't consider Floyd a prog act - Gabriel's Genesis was better than Yes which in turn was better than ELP - but none of them could ever make it to my list of top 50 rock and roll acts.

I played this record to death back in the day. I wonder how many people realize how seedy and rundown Broadway (and NYC) in general was back then. Despite, or because of this NY was fantastic. Somehow this record captures the feel of the incredible underground energy that the city pulsed with in the 70's and early eighties. No more mud club, cbgb, graffiti, raw neighborhoods.

Got to see them do The Lamb live back then, Music Hall, Cleveburg, 3000 seats.
Gabriel's last tour with the band, a most excellent, jawdropping show.
Those were the days !
